HeadsUp was founded to fulfill the legacy of Governor Mike & First Lady Carolyn O’Callaghan who had a vision to enhance mental health in Nevada, especially for those living in the margins of society. Before serving as Governor, Mike O'Callaghan went to go fight for our country by enlisting in the military.
“I wanted to get into combat... I had the training”
~ Governor Mike O’Callaghan
Serving in three branches of the military prior to being elected Governor of Nevada, O’Callaghan was decorated with the Bronze Star, Silver Star and two Purple Hearts. O’Callaghan lost his leg doing what he believed in. While Mike had wounds and shrapnel, which took decades to be removed, it was his unseen wounds and trauma that inspired him to be a champion for mental health and veteran services in Nevada.
“This isn’t just more humane, it makes economic sense” he said.
As Governor, he fought hard to get things to people who needed it most. Family-owned and operated since 2008, HeadsUp was founded by Mike’s daughter, Mary Colleen and it’s our mission to inspire positive personal transformations and long-term recovery while encouraging hope and healing through evidence-based treatment. HeadsUp provides experienced, compassionate clinicians with a focus on the highest of quality care for our veterans.
Our team of experienced counselors uses a variety of evidence-based techniques, including cognitive-behavioral therapy and mindfulness practices, to help our clients overcome negative thought patterns and behaviors.
